VADS Privacy Policy
We have developed this policy because we want you to feel confident about the privacy and security of your personal information.
Use of personal information
Registration is necessary so that we can undertake user evaluation and give you access to all areas of the VADS website, including personal lightboxes. We have tried to keep the personal information required to a minimum.
You will only need to register once, any details you provide will be stored for future visits. And, once registered, the only information required to login again is your email and password.
The registration details you provide will ensure that:
- You get the most out of your visits by giving you access to extended features such as the lightbox.
- We can keep you up to date on new development at VADS, such as new online collections and new or improved website features (if you do not want to receive this sort of information, simply leave the relevant box unchecked at registration).
- If you register, we will treat you as having consented to our using your personal data in the manner described in this policy.
Email addresses
At VADS we respect the privacy of personal e-mail accounts and will securely store your e-mail addresses. We will not send you unsolicited e-mail messages or pass your details to ANY organisation without your explicit permission.
However, if you have given permission at registration we will e-mail you on occasion with information on new VADS collections and/or new improved website features . If you do not want to be emailed this information, please do not tick the box.
Disclosure of information
VADS complies with the Data Protection act in the United Kingdom and takes all reasonable care to prevent any unauthorised access to your personal data.
VADS people and those working for agents or contractors of VADS are responsible for keeping your information confidential and will only use it to offer information on behalf of VADS.
Security
We at VADS are serious about guarding the security of your personal data.
There are a number of things you can do to protect yourself from Internet fraud:
- Choose a password that is unique to you, and if you do write it down, keep it somewhere safe and secure.
- When you have finished your session on vads.ac.uk, make sure that you prevent your details being seen by anyone that you do not wish to see them. Remember to log out by clicking the 'logout' link. We also recommend that you then close your browser so any history of the session is cleared. As an extra precaution your session on the VADS website will 'time out' if you have not used the site for 20 minutes.
Use of cookies
VADS does NOT use cookies to store personal information about our users.
Third party sites
Third party Internet sites that you can link to through vads.ac.uk are not covered by our Privacy and Security policy, so we urge you to be careful when you enter any personal information online.
