Inevitably Barron felt the death of her partner keenly, but was sustained by her many interests and friends. She took special pleasure in being able to pass on her knowledge to Susan Bosence (1913-1996) who had visited Hambutts for the first time in 1951. No. (1) The beauty of the house and garden made a deep impression on her and the women became close friends. Susan Bosence had been inspired to start printing herself a couple of years before on seeing Barron and Larcher's textiles at Dartington Hall in Devon.
