Project Background
|
This project was managed in the Faculty of Arts and Architecture at the University of Brighton. It was funded as part of the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) distributed national electronic resource for learning, teaching and research (DNER). It ran from 1 March 2001 to 31 August 2002.
The end product consists of 7 web-based E-Learning modules, each containing about 100 visual records. Visual source material derives from the University's expanding Design History Research Centre (DHRC) Archives as well as incorporating associated collections. The product is aimed at and delivered to the Higher Education (HE) community.
The project objectives were as follows:
- To enhance course curriculum and learning experiences in Arts, Design and Communication HE by utilising new media technologies.
- To enhance access to visual resources, through the creation and delivery of seven hundred digital images from archival collections that are recognised as significant to the Arts, Design and Communication sector as well as to the study of design and visual culture in general.
- To create project documentation and to host events that will contribute to knowledge sharing of E-Learning production and project management in the HE community.

Project Management
|
The project was managed using formal
project management methodologies. A website rendered the project
accountable at all stages, all work being published within twenty-four
hours. The website was last updated at the close of the project
in September 2002, and now exists as the project website archive.
For all information relating to the project during its lifecycle,
please refer to the project
website archive.
