| Description | This resource is a guide to the printed, painted and resist-dyed textiles held in the Crafts Study Centre collection at the Surrey Institute of Art & Design, University College, Farnham. It contains 170 images and concentrates on the work of Phyllis Barron (1890-1964) and Dorothy Larcher (1882-1952), two of the leading hand-blockprinters of textiles working in Britain in the 1920´s and 30´s. The Centre has the largest holding of their work in a public collection. A source of inspiration for many today, Barron and Larcher´s textiles are looked at in detail, major commissions highlighted and the role played by galleries and exhibitions in promoting their work discussed. | |||
