| Description | This painting, by an unknown seventeenth-century Dutch artist, depicts a small child who wears court dress and is probably female. In her right hand she carries a garland of flowers; in her left hand she holds a coral, which is attached by a chain to her belt, and would have been used for teething. The painting may be the work of one of several Dutch artists such as Jacob Gerritsz Cuyp or Cornelis de Vos, who specialised in portraits of children in the early seventeenth century. | |
