| Notes | Research notes by Christopher Baker, 1989, held by Astley Cheetham Art Gallery: 'Originally described simply as 'Italian School - 16th century' when it first entered the collection, the association with Allori was pointed out in 1985 by Sotheby's, London. The elegant figure is similar to several images produced by that artist, but this work also resembles later 16th century Mannerists such as Battista Naldini (1537-1591) and Francesco Morandini (c.1544-1597).' | |
