| Description |
This image of a furious cavalry battle is a common subject for Douw. A very similar work entitled A Cavalry Skirmish between Turks and Christians was sold at Christie's, London, on 2 May 1980. Although the Chorley work is considerably smaller, the treatment and composition of the subject are so similar that an attribution of this work to Douw, or someone working in his manner, seems quite reasonable. |
