| Description | Leeuw was a Belgian artist active in the last half of the nineteenth century. This work is representative of the artist's usual subject matter of genre scenes depicting peasants working the land, shepherds with their flocks or hay carts. Winter scenes were also common for Leeuw as they emphasized the harshness of this kind of existence. | |
