| Description | Giannetti usually painted romanticized images of women in a neo-classical style. However, here the brushwork is quite loose particularly on her dress and the drapery behind. The freely painted sketch-like quality of this work is very different from the highly polished finish of Giannetti's other works. This work therefore either marks a departure in style or is perhaps a full-scale sketch for another work, although the fact that he signed this work would perhaps suggest that the artist considered it finished. The dress suggests a date later than 1900. | |
