| Description | The Vrooms were a well known Dutch family of artists. Cornelis Hendricksz. Vroom the elder was a sculptor and his son Hendrick Vroom initiated the Dutch seventeenth-century tradition of marine painting. Hendrick's three sons, Cornelis Vroom the Younger, Fredrick Vroom II and Jacob Vroom I, all became painters as did his grandson Jacob Vroom II. Cornelis Vroom the Younger was the first family member to make the transition from marine painting to landscape. | |
