Description Dionijs Verburgh painted mainly landscapes and may also have travelled to the Dutch colonies. This picture, once attributed to his contemporary Marten van Valckenborch, is believed to have been painted by one of his followers.

Notes Dealer's label on back '6 Duke St, St James, S.W.1. ? Private caller. Name of Artist XVI century panel probably signed L. M. or M.VV. R.B.C. Title. Harbour with mountains & figures. Price £50.' There is now no sign of a monogram. It has most recently been attributed to the circle of Dionijs Verburgh.
