| Description | Fantin-Latour's still-life paintings were particularly popular with English buyers. As with the artist's portraits, the mood is quiet and subdued and the viewer is made aware of the transience of natural beauty. Fantin-Latour made several visits to London where he exhibited at the Royal Academy. He also befriended Whistler with whom he shared an interest in the harmonious relationship of tone and colour. |
