Notes Attributed to Israel Silvestre (1621- 1691) by Jack Hampton in 1971 who suggested that it is actually a hawking picture with the stag added later in England not later than 1725. He also thought that the figures and the hounds were done by a different artist to the landscape which was probably done later.
