Description The painting depicts a rustic landscape comprising a track cresting the brow of a hill, with some misty mountains in the far distance. In the centre of the painting are a shepherdess and her flock, winding their weary way home over the hill. The shepherdess has a large basket on her back, and a staff, or crook, resting over her shoulder.
