Description This is a copy, with variations, after Boulogne's original L'Annonciation de la Vierge, in the Louvre, Paris. The treatment of the subject and its neoclassical pictorial elements, such as the ornament of the prayer desk and the detailed treatment of the floor, all date this copy to the first half of the nineteenth century. The work lacks real movement, a characteristic element of Boulogne's oeuvre, and the static composition combined with the crude drawing make this a poor copy. Bon de Boulogne was a history painter and examples of his work can be seen in the at Louvre and the Musée Magnin, Dijon.
