| Description | In the centre ground Mary, dressed in red and blue, embraces Elizabeth, dressed in purple. From the right, wearing red and green, comes Zaccharias, and from the left Joseph in dark green and gold. A small dog completes the foreground staffage but there are other figures within the background buildings of a town. This copy by Teniers of Palma Vecchio's The Visitation (now in the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna) was engraved by P. van Lisebetten for Teniers' Theatrum Pictorium, 1660, p. 194. | |
