| Description | The life of the Scheveningen fishing community was one of Blommers' favourite themes. He painted numerous fish auctions, as seen here, which until the harbour was built took place on the beach of Scheveningen. The five fishwives in the painting are carrying large straw baskets in which the fish are transported. | |
