A bull, a cow, three sheep, a lamb and a goat arranged against an evening sun which casts long shadows. A wooden fence in the background, distant, misty mountains. In the foreground, highly realised leafy plants. Flock of birds in the distance. |

Sticker on back: NDGKV No. 734. 'Born 1806 in Courtrai, died 1887 Brussels. Painter of animals and landscapes. Robbe studied with, and shows the influence of, Eugène Verboeckhoven. Established himself in Brussels. In 1855, he was awarded a distinction in Paris at the Exposition Universelle. In 1843 he was made chevalier of the Order of Léopold, officer in 1863, in 1845 he was made chevalier of the Legion d'Honneur. |
