Description A mother, with back to the viewer, looks over the water where ships sail the far horizon. Wearing a white headscarf, a long skirt and apron, she carries her baby. Whilst the mother's pose is stable, there is playful action at her feet. Two little children play peek-a-boo, using their mother's figure to hide from each other, and on the right the girl grips her mother's skirt as support. She steals a look behind. She is laughing at the boy on all fours. In the middle-ground, several figures lie in the grass.
