| Description | Peeter Bout began his apprenticeship at the age of thirteen. He visited Paris between 1671 and 1677; it is also possible that he travelled to Italy. Bout painted landscapes with markets, ports, village squares with animals and many small figures in the tradition of Jan Brueghel the younger. However, David Teniers II also influenced him. His colouration became darker after the turn of the century and he often provided the figures for landscapes by Boudewyns. | |
