Description The Roman painter Mario Nuzzi was known as 'Mario de Fiori' because of his talent for painting still lifes, particularly garlands of flowers. This garland of fruit, surrounding a now shadowy sculpted bust in a niche, seems to be the work of Mario, and bears a signature in the bottom left-hand corner. The fruits are, clockwise from the top: strawberries, yellow plums, white and red grapes, medlars, gooseberries, apricots, cherries, raspberries, maize, a lemon, nuts and white peaches.
