| Description | Marseus van Schrieck worked in Amsterdam and was known for his landscapes and paintings of the interiors of grottoes in the manner of Moucheron (1633-1686). The attribution to him was accepted for the Northern Eye exhibition, although it may be doubtful. This painting does not seem to resemble works by Marseus van Schrieck in the National Gallery archive, and it is possible that it may be the work of another Schrieck, perhaps the 'H. Van Schrieck' mentioned in the 1936 catalogue. | |
