| Artist | Attributed to Bloemen, Jan Frans van (Flemish painter, 1662-1749, active in France and Italy) | |
| Date Earliest | possibly about 1710 | |

| Description | Bloemen earned the pseudonym 'Orizzonte' for his skill in representing distances or 'horizons', and this picture illustrates the justice of the nickname. The artist, of Flemish origin, worked in Italy and specialised in arcadian landscapes such as this. His primary inspiration was the Italian tradition, but the influence of the great French classicist Poussin may be detected in the rather hard, flat rendering of the clouds. | |
