Description Dr Mark Hildesley was Bishop of Man from 1755 to 1772. He was born in Marston in Kent and educated at Trinity College, Cambridge. He continued the task begun by his predecessor, Bishop Wilson, of translating and printing the scriptures in the Manx language. He finally completed this work in 1772, the year of his death. Pieter Jan van Reysschoot was born in Gand and spent part of his career in England. He was brother of the artist Emmanuel Petrus van Reysschoot.
