| Description | The title suggests that this is a scene inspired by the artist's travels through Andalusia, southern Spain. Two donkeys, a cart and a barefooted child are depicted in a sunlit street in front of a house. Pavy is best known for his picturesque paintings of everyday life in North Africa and the Middle East. Like many other ‘orientalist' painters, Pavy also travelled to Andalusia, which gave artists a foretaste of the even more exotic Middle East. | |
