| Description | Following the Annunciation, the Virgin Mary visited her cousin Elizabeth, who was pregnant with the future John the Baptist. The scene is described in the Bible, in Luke 1. 39-56. This is a copy by Angioli Romagnolli of Mariotto Albertinelli's masterpiece of 1503 (Uffizi). The symmetry and perspective of the arcade show the influence of Perugino, as well as that of Fra Bartolomeo, with whom Albertinelli shared a studio. |
