|Description||Augustus Kennedy-Erskine, 19th Laird of Dun (1866-1908) is depicted aged seven, standing in front of a landscape and leaning on a carved stone pedestal.
This Victorian portrait of a child shows the young sitter as an adult in miniature, wearing a kilt and sporran and with a length of plaid over his left shoulder, attached to his jacket by a traditional Highland brooch. This confirms his nationality and connects him with the background landscape of mist-covered hills, redolent of contemporary romantic views of Scotland.
