Description This small canvas depicts a couple with their dogs and cattle in a landscape setting. It has been attributed to a follower of Jacopo Bassano, the leading member of the dynasty of painters from the Veneto. Jacopo Bassano's oeuvre comprises for the most part Biblical scenes and paintings of everyday life, and his work was frequently emulated by his sons and by his many followers. This particular painting relates in certain details to Spring from a series of The Seasons which Jacopo Bassano painted in 1574. It includes the motif of a kneeling figure which often features in Bassano's work.
