| Description | Monnoyer was one of the most famous painter of flowers in seventeenth-century France. In this painting, Monnoyer depicts a flower arrangement, including roses, in a stoneware vase with a bas-relief decoration, standing on a stone slab. The flowers are finely painted, the vivid colours of the flowers are contrasted against the dark background. Some flowers are laying on the marble top, at the left-hand side of the vase. | |
