Description Murillo painted several versions of this complex religious subject fortelling the crucifixtion for the infant Christ. This version, with Christ sleeping below two putti, one of whom pulls back an awning, whilst the other bids them to be silent. This painting, one of the finest depictions of this theme, can be dated to the 1670s through the technique and Murillo's treatment of the children.
