| Description |
A half-length portrait of an unidentified young man, wearing black clothes and a white collar, his right hand upon his breast. He appears to be ill, or wasting away, so it has traditionally been assumed that he is a patient of the hospital, though this may not necessarily be an effect intended by the artist. |

| Notes |
The painting is not recorded in the 1948-49 insurance valuations. It was found in the stores in 1973, when an x-ray was made, revealing that the present subject has been painted over an earlier portrait, also of the 'Dutch School'. Presently hung in the James Gibbs flat. |
