Description Abraham van Beyeren was a Dutch painter of still-life subjects. He initially specialised in marine themes but, towards the middle of the seventeenth century, he began to devote himself to sumptuous banquet tables laden with silver and gold vessels, Venetian glass, fine fruit, and expensive table coverings of damask, satin and velvet. Works of this kind, in which he was rivalled only by Kalf, gave him ever greater opportunity to demonstrate his ability to capture the play of light on varied surfaces. This particular work is a detailed depiction of grapes peaches and roses. The pink rose is particularly representative of Beyeren's manner.
