| Description | A picturesque view along the river in Nuremberg. The waterway is lined on each side by crumbling half-timbered buildings. Over the rooftops a couple of towers can be seen and in the far distance is a windmill. In the foreground, several people take to a boat, and other vessels navigate the river in the middle distance. The drama of the composition is heightened by dark grey, silver-lined clouds, and the employment of steep perspective. | |
