| Notes | In 1717, the presumed date of the present portrait, Anne Bridges, née Freeman, married seventy-year-old Sir Harry Bridges of Keynsham (1647-1728), becoming his second wife. Bridges had been appointed Sheriff of the County of Somerset four years earlier. The late husband of Mrs Williams of Torquay was a descendent of the Bridges family, of the Manor House, Keynsham. He had inherited the four Bridges family portraits which Mrs Williams donated to Victoria Art Gallery. The donation included three further paintings. Other objects were given to Bristol Art Gallery. |
