| Notes | It seems possible that this small sketch of a staircase (probably from an ecclesiastical building) was made during Lethaby's Tour of the West Country in 1881. This journey was made possible when Lethaby (aged 24) won the Pugin Travelling Scholarship, setting out to study English mediaeval architecture and 'buildings designed on mediaeval principles'. He would probably have visited Glastonbury during this tour. In portfolio with items F.130.1-4, F.131.1-3, F.132.1-2, these are the Goldsmiths' Hall designs, made between 1882 and 1884. | |
| Object Notes | Sketch which shows a perspective view of a staircase, with steps labelled A to E. Verso - Rough pencil sketch of the same (or a similar) staircase. | |
