| Notes | Manuscript fragment, from a choir's service book. This would probably have been a Monastic choir, due to the size and quality of the book that this fragment originates from (either a Gradual or an Antiphonal). This is quite a late date for such a manuscript (though they were still in production and remained popular), if indeed the date is accurate, as the printed page had been in circulation for quite some time and the art of manuscript illumination was actually entering it's final years. This would have originally been part of the Central School's Teaching Examples Collection. | |
| Object Notes | Major initials ("A" on verso, "S" on recto) with decorative flourishing, minor initials with black calligraphic strapwork. Black musical notation on red staves with black Latin text in textualis rotunda script. | |
