| Description | Painted and gilded wooden funerary statuette of the human-headed Imset, one of four Sons of Horus. Imset is depicted mummiform and wears a tripartite wig and wesekh collar. The face is gilded with facial features painted in black and white. The ears are large and naturalistic. The front of the body is brightly painted in blue, green, white and yellow on a red background. The falcon-head of Re-Horakhty crowned with a solar disc and uraeus is depicted on both shoulders. Below is a multicoloured horizontal band above semicircular bands of geometric and floral patterns. A naturalistic depiction of a scarab flanked by two wings is above a shen-symbol and an inscription of three columns of hieroglyphs facing to the right; the two outer columns of hieroglyphs are painted in black on a blue background and the centre column is painted in black on a yellow background. The figure stands on a square base, brightly painted with a geometric pattern on four sides. There are patches missing from the surface of the statuette, mostly on the face and legs. Circa 600 BCE. |
