Le 2 août 1919, dans plus de 27,000 communes, les Enfants des Écoles ont exprimé à tous nos glorieux poilus rentrés au foyer, la reconnaissance de la Nation.
Depuis cette fête, les maires de France ne cessent de demander que LE 2 NOVEMBRE prochain, un hommage particulier soit rendu à leurs morts, ainsi qu'à leur famille et aux orphelins de la guerre, pupilles de la Nation.

L'UNION DES GRANDES ASSOCIATIONS FRANÇAISES, présidée par M. Paul Deschanel et M. Ernest Lavisse, va pour-suivre la réalisation de ce voeu des communes françaises.
Quinze cent mille diplômes sont préparés pour être remis solennellement ce jour là, aux familles des morts at aux orphelins de la guerre qu'entoureront d'une affection particuliére les enfants de toutes les écoles.
L'UNION DES GRANDES ASSOCIATIONS fait appel au public pour réaliser ce voeu des trente-six mille communes françaises.

Une Souscription publique est ouverte. Il faut que chaque Français ait à coeur de contri-buer à donner ce témoignage de reconnaissance aux familles si cruellement éprouveés.
Les Souscriptions sont reçues à tous les Guichets de la Banque de France, à Paris et en Province, ainsi que dans toutes les Agences et Succursales du Crédit Lyonnais, de la Société Générale et du Comptoir National d'Escompte, à Paris et en Province.

[On 2 November next, 1,500,000 families of the dead will receive the Diploma of 'Gratitude'. A National Subscription. On 2 August 1919, schoolchildren in more than 27,000 communes expressed the Nation's gratitude to our fine soldiers who have returned home. Since that celebration the mayors of France have kept asking that on 2 November next, special tribute should paid to their dead, the families of the dead and war orphans, who are wards of the Nation. 2 August 1919: delivery of the Diploma to every commune in France. 2 November: distribution of the Diploma to the families of soldiers who have died for the Country. The Union of Major French Associations, presided over by M. Paul Deschanel and M. Ernest Lavisse, is going to follow up the implementation of this wish by the French communes. 1,500,000 diplomas have been prepared to be solemnly handed out on that day to the families of the dead and to war orphans who will be surrounded by special affection by the children at every school. The Union of Major Associations appeals to the public so that this wish by the 36,000 French communes can be realised. Subscribe! A public subscription is open. Every French citizen must wish to contribute towards giving this token of gratitude to the families so cruelly tested. Subscriptions are accepted at all counters of the Bank of France, in Paris and the provinces, as well as at all agencies and branches of the Crédit Lyonnais bank, the Société Générale bank and the National Discount Bank, in Paris and the provinces.
