| Description |
A 1930s square cigarette box with a separate lid designed as a promotional item for C.A.V.Jigs Moulds & Tools Co Ltd, from a pair of whose moulds it was manufactured. The lid is black and decorated with fine lines and lettered 'cigarettes'. The box is black mottled with orange. The moulds were in use on a stand at the Wembley Exhibition, 1924. This example was made as part of a teaching programme at Borough Polytechnic in about 1938. There is a spare base from the same mould also on loan, PHSL 266.2. This item forms part of the Plastics Historical Society (PHS) collection. |
