| Description |
A boxed yellow and black Giro Ionos Road cycle helmet, from the 2000s. One of the helmet's many features is a visible weave of composite called In-mould Composite Sub (ICS) Frame, which runs throughout the helmet's liner and around the vents. This I.C.S. bridges between the vents providing additional structural support, impact dispersion, and penetration resistance. With this use of composites, the sub-frame is tuned to provide incredible structural support, impact dispersion and resistance to penetration. In-mould construction means the helmet's outer shell can be fused with the impact-absorbing EPS liner, and this means that the materials reinforce each other. This type of helmet was worn by the 2007 Tour de France winner, Alberto Contador. |
