A 1990s variation on the original 'Astro' Lava lamp (1963) designed by Ross Lovegrove. This lamp has a curvaceous PC (polycarbonate) casing around a sodalime glass body. The light bulb in the base heats up the coloured wax for a moving globular display. The lamps are still being produced by Mathmos on the original site in Poole. |
