| History | Design. Written on 5 May 1911 as a birthday present to Stephen Pepler. Johnston's diary reads ‘Stephen's Birthday (3) did label All tea at Peplers'. Eric Gill engraved the bookplate after Johnston's design, and wrote later asking his opinion of the wood-engraving [Physick 11] ‘from your pen drawing'. | |
