Simple Search
The quickest and easiest way to search the VADS catalogue is to use the search box in the top right hand corner of every page.
Searching for part of a term
An asterisk (*) can be used to replace characters at the end of a search term, e.g. hair* will return records for hair, hairdresser, hairdressing, hairstyle etc.
Searching for terms in proximity to each other
Quotation marks can be used around search terms in order to find a precise phrase e.g. "hat and gloves" will only return records for hat and gloves if the phrase appears exactly as it is quoted.
Sorting results
The results of your search can be sorted alphabetically by artist/creator, title, or collection, using the drop down menu above the search results and clicking 'go'.
