Lightbox
You can create your own personal collections of VADS images, email them to friends and colleagues and adopt collections sent to you. We call this feature the lightbox and creating your own couldn't be easier.
When you find an image you like, select the 'add to lightbox' link situated below the medium sized image on the core record page. If you haven't already done so, you will be asked to provide a few short details to register. Registering with us means that you have your own personal space in which to store your lightboxes that will always be available and will never be deleted from the site. Registering also means that you can send lightboxes to friends and colleagues using your own email address.
So, to create your first lightbox follow these simple steps:
- find an image
- select 'add to lightbox'
- sign up/login
- view your lightbox
Compare images
You can compare images in your lightbox by clicking on the disk icons beneath the relevant images. The images will then appear in separate pop up boxes that you can arrange side by side.
Download images
You can download the images in your lightbox by clicking on the disk icons. Right click on the image that appears in the pop up box and select 'save image as' or 'save picture as'.
Remove an image from your lightbox
Single images can be removed from your lightbox simply by clicking on the bin icon below each saved image. Alternatively, you can delete your entire lightbox by choosing to 'delete lightbox' from the task bar above your images, and then selecting the lightbox to be deleted from the drop-down list and selecting 'go'.
Email your image/s to a specified email address
You can email a lightbox to a specified email address or to multiple addresses by filling out the 'email your lightbox' information at the bottom of your lightbox page and clicking on 'send.' The recipient/s of your email will then have the option to adopt your lightbox.
Adopt a lightbox
Having received a lightbox by email, you will then have the option to view the lightbox by clicking on the hyperlink text. To save the lightbox, you will be prompted to enter your registered email address and password or sign up.
Create a new lightbox
You can have unlimited numbers of lightboxes. To create a new lightbox, choose 'create new lightbox' from the task bar above the images. You will then be prompted to enter a name for your new lightbox and click on the 'create' button. Add images to your new lightbox by conducting a new search of the VADS catalogue and selecting that lightbox from the core record page.
Rename a lightbox
You can rename any of your lightboxes simply by choosing 'rename lightbox' from the task bar and entering in a new name.
