Joseph Jarry probably made this oil sketch near Avignon, where he worked in the nineteenth century. He drew pictures of the town and was also a watercolourist. |

The Musee Calvet in Avignon, contacted in July 2006, has no documents on Jarry.The signature is noted in the museum's file as being 'I.Jarry', when it should logically be 'J.Jarry', but close inspection of the painting reveals that it is illegible to the naked eye. |
