Description Roelandt Savery was a landscape, flower and animal painter. He was born in Courtrai (Flanders), then settled with his family in Amsterdam, where he was probably taught by his brother Jacob. Savery painted in various locations: Amsterdam, Prague (for Emperor Rudolph II in 1604-12), Vienna, and Utrecht (1619-39).
