| Description |
Roelof van Vries was born in Haarlem and worked in Leiden and Amsterdam as well as in his native city. He entered the Leiden Guild in 1653 and the Haarlem Guild in 1657. He was a landscape painter, whose style was based on that of Jacob van Ruisdael. His pictures are often confused with those of two other followers of Ruisdael, Salomon Rombouts and Cornelis Decker. |
