Description Seven peaches are horizontally distributed close to the foreground. A velvet texture of red and purple bruising is set off against a plain but warm mud-coloured background, with a textured finish created by random flecks of black paint to suggest a rendered wall. One in the centre is split in half, featuring the stone in the yellow juicy flesh; another is half eaten. Green leaves on the right complement the red of the peaches. The overall effect is one of a warm sensuous and velvet tonality created by the insistent roundness of the fruit and its soft tactile properties.
