Design for a plaque by Lethaby, using the image of a recumbent dog, under a rose tree/bush with an inscribed legend around the border which reads: "To the Fair Memory of Diana the only Daughter of General - She died in June MDCCCLXX". Full - "A Wall Slab of Cast Iron designed by WR Lethaby: The lettering inlaid in flush brass. Wax modelled in low relief. The centre may be gilt but the rest of the work must be untouched from the mould". This reproduction of Lethaby's design appeared in British Architect, issue dated February the 14th, 1890. |
