Kar, seen here building the intricate mechanism of a camera-gun completely by hand, comes from the little village of Mulghar, Khulna, Bengal. Mr. Kar worked in India for the Lucknow Jute Mills, in the capacity of fitter, and it was this firm which sent him to Britain for further training. In England it was soon discovered that Mr. Kar's great hobby was watch-making and he was tried out as an instrument maker. So great was his skill and efficiency that, instead of training as a fitter, he was transferred to an advance course in instrument making. FOR VICTORY G.P.D. 365/13/21/1 |
